All aboard for Scarborough Beach Park: one of the best kids’ parks in Brisbane
Definitely one of the best kids’ park in Brisbane, Scarborough Beach Park, Redcliffe, has enough activities to wear them out through good old fashioned outdoor exercise.
The immaculately maintained beachside playground is fully fenced and has two themed play areas – Railway Place and Pirate Place – and the all-natural Cotton Tree Forest.
Little ones who love Thomas the Tank Engine will rush to the stationary train; pirate fans will clamber over the boat fort. Other traditional play equipment surrounded by soft-fall rubber or bark includes a see saw, swings, sand play area, balancing equipment and climbing net.
Families with prams and wheelchairs are able to comfortably view the action from a pergola with tables and seats inside the fenced area.
Cotton Tree Forest is ideal for imaginative kids who like to explore. It’s a great workout for their developing brains as they have to figure out the safest foot and handholds to manoeuvre their way along the gnarled branches of these mysterious ghostly trees.
Outside the fenced area are several electric barbecues and sheltered picnic tables with views of the beach and Moreton Bay.
Here, older children will enjoy the basketball half court, rock climbing structure and bike paths that follow the coastline. For the more cerebral, there is also an oversized chessboard in the park.
This popular park is already a hit with the locals and families from Brisbane. On and off street parking is readily available, and cafes and takeaways are located on Landsborough Ave.
And we are too!
