WHY? Because it will be fun – one you’ve finished!
But seriously, this is an event in which the whole family can participate. It takes place in peaceful, protected Moreton Bay and along the flat foreshore.
The Moreton Bay Triathlon has been expanded to encourage those who are curious but haven’t been game enough to give it a go. Until now!
To this end, different levels have been introduced for novices to elite athletes.
Just for kids
It starts with the Kids Tri, a safe 100m swim along Moreton Bay parallel to the shore, 2km bike and 500m run. It is suitable for kids aged 7-11 and novices up to the age of 14.
Little tease
The Enticer is designed to familiarise participants with the sport through short manageable distances: 200m swim, 5km bike, 2km run. (12+years)
Sprint to glory
The Sprint Distance means this is starting to get serious: 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run. (14+years)
Go for gold
The Olympic Distance is the real deal and not for the faint-hearted: 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run. (15+years)
OTU Oceania Championships
For elite athletes only. Comprising of a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run (Open).
Form a team
If you don’t want to go it alone, form a team of two or three members. Start hassling family, friends or work colleagues now to get a training routine established ASAP.
The Moreton Bay Triathlon is part of the Nissan State Series – Queensland Standard Distance Championship Race and Nissan Club Championships. It’s also host to the draft Oceania Triathlon Union Oceania Championships.
If spectating is your sport, you won’t be disappointed as there’s bound to be some amazing athletes competing on the day.
