Attention lap swimmers and human otters: Scarborough Beach Resort’s 23 m lap pool will help you find your zen

If you love to swim laps or, at the other extreme, your preference is to loll like an otter in a pond, our 23 m pool is da bomb!

Heated to a “just right” 26 degrees, our turquoise blue pool is simply divine.

Simply floating about in a pristine outdoor swimming pool has huge benefits for your well being.

If you like to dog paddle or breast stroke, it is a soul soothing remedy for stress.

If you are a lapster who thrives on driving up and down on a mission to become the next Michael Phelps (huge exaggeration but we are all allowed to dream) it is the perfect training ground.

If you’ve brought the kids along to SBR for a relaxing weekend, our pool provides a wonderful environment for fun and play – it’s the guilt free way to wear them out! They’re exercising, having fun, playing together and learning about water safety at the same time.

Amazing.

Located outdoors on level 1, our pool is surrounded by comfortable deck chairs while shade is readily available under a covered area equipped with a poolside barbecue.

You are able to keep an eye on the kids at play at all times.

It’s that beautiful time of year, the weather is warming up and summer is around the corner.

Stop for a moment. Float on your back. Breathe. Look up at the sky. Love life.

One of Queensland’s finest golf courses is in our backyard (or close enough to boast about)

North Lakes Resort Golf Club has been labelled “one of Queensland’s best golf clubs”.

Golf professional and golf course architect Graham Marsh designed the 18-hole championship golf course, which opened to the public in 2002.

Featured in the Visit Brisbane 2015 list of Brisbane’s 10 best golf courses, North Lakes caters to golf fanatics from beginners to veterans.

The club welcomes players from all walks of life and all levels. The doors are open to casual guests, corporate groups and social groups and clubs.

In addition to an immaculately maintained 18-hole golf course, guests have access to practise facilities plus a driving range and large putting and chipping green.

If you don’t have the gear, an on-site golf shop is staffed by professionals who know the game inside out. No excuses. Get the gloves.

Corporate groups are able to take advantage of a dedicated coordinator to ensure they’re on the ball (no pun intended).

After a day on the green, there is the option of celebrating your hole-in-one at the on-site Lomandra’s Restaurant (your shout?).

North Lakes Resort Golf Club is a 20-minute drive from Scarborough. How good is that?

Hit the road for a day trip: we offer free parking!

It’s reassuring to know that when you stay at Scarborough Beach Resort your vehicle is safe and sound in our free, secure undercover car park.

This gives you the freedom to leave the car behind to wander on foot, exploring the immediate local area and attractions or travelling across the water to mesmerising Moreton Island.

We are also in a fantastic location – conveniently positioned within driving distance of numerous day-trip destinations.

While we have an undeniably picturesque beach on our doorstep, the coastline drive is refreshing. You might like to drive south along the short peninsula route to Redcliffe Jetty, checking out Woody Point on the way.

Or head north for a longer drive (it only takes around an hour) through Beerburrum and Beerwah State Forests to Mooloolaba.

Alternatively, a one-and-a-half hour drive into the hinterland will get you to the aptly named Mount Glorious in the D’Aguilar Range.

There’s so much choice so why not get your motor going!

Where: Redcliffe Botanical Gardens, 20 Henzell St, Redcliffe

MasterChef Australia runner up (2016) Matt Sinclair will be one of the star attractions at What’s Cooking in the Gardens on September 3.

Groovin’ on a Sunday afternoon: Scarborough Sounds on Father’s Day

When: Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 4-8pm
Where: Scarborough Park, Scarborough

Dads everywhere will wish they were up our way on Father’s Day when Scarborough Sounds comes to Scarborough Park as part of the annual Redcliffe Festival.

This year’s lineup is grooving and moving and shaking (no faking) with the hip sounds of two local “big bands” and several more accomplished acts.

The Steele Syndicate, an octet, are guaranteed to knock Dad for six with their funk, reggae, ska and indie-rock inspired sounds.

It’s a great opportunity to watch Dad “dance” and have a gentle chuckle among yourselves (but never at his expense – at least not on his special day).

Food and drinks will be available from market stalls and a bar will be located near the main stage (BYO is not permitted at this event).

Weather permitting, the evening will end with a huge bonfire that emits magical rainbow flames.

All this for Dad? What’s more – it’s FREE!
