Active Holidays for Kids @ Scarborough

If you are looking to entertain the kids during your stay in Scarborough over the school holidays, the Moreton Bay Regional Council conduct a heap of free activities for children called Active Holidays.

The Active Holidays program will get the kids moving this January with a range of sport and recreation activities for children and youth aged 3 – 17 years. All activities are provided by qualified instructors in local parks and facilities across the region, providing new challenges for a fun-filled school holiday.

Christmas is just over a month away and our thoughts start turning to all that is festive and fun over the Christmas period.

Scarborough Lights Up

Bringing back that old-fashioned Christmas spirit to Scarborough you will soon be seeing ten HUGE ‘crystal rain’ decorated and lit-up 3-metre tall Christmas Trees in the streets of Scarborough throughout December and January this Christmas.

Scarborough Christmas Carols

Scarborough Lights are also conducting the Scarborough Christmas Carols event on Sunday 11 December at the Scarborough Beach Parklands on Landsborough Avenue in Scarborough.

Enjoy dance groups, roving Christmas performers, twilight markets, and free Christmas activities and workshops. The kids will fall in love with Santa’s Village and our life-sized snow globe, and they will even get to meet Santa himself. The evening will also feature a very special fireworks display!

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Bridge to Belvedere

Kick off the new year early with a family friendly fireworks extravaganza at 8:30pm, sponsored by the Belvedere Hotel at Woody Point. You can view the spectacular display from just about anywhere along the Clontarf-Woody Point foreshore, from the Ted Smout Bridge right through to the Woody Point Jetty.

Pine Rivers Christmas Carols

Sit back, relax, and join in the carolling fun with local community groups, schools and dance groups, and a marquee carolling performance at Pine Rivers Park, Strathpine on Sunday 27 November from 7pm. Don’t miss meeting Santa at Santa’s Village or jumping in the giant snow globe. Wander through the twilight markets and the kids will love the free Christmas activities and workshops. The evening will also feature a huge fireworks display.

Australian Army Band – Christmas Show

All ages are welcome to enjoy the fabulous talent of this remarkable and loveable band for two performances at 11am and 2pm on 11 December. No words can describe the enjoyment this group of army folk brings to the Redcliffe Cultural Centre. Their enthusiasm is spell binding, their talent remarkable. Two big shows have been scheduled, so the word of Christmas is spreading with the goal to have a smile put on all of our peninsula family.
