Cher: Here we go again tour

WHAT: CHER, Here we go again
WHEN: Friday, September 28, 2018
WHERE: Brisbane Entertainment Centre

Who doesn’t love Cher?

We do.

She is the ultimate superstar, whose talent and persona shine beyond the universe.

Up there with the greats, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, she shimmers like a full moon on the harbour and exudes a powerful ethereal energy.

A goddess, her bold beautiful voice is so distinctive it is instantly recognisable (unlike the strangled kitten whines emitted by so many singers today).

And can that woman wear a body suit or what?

WOW!

Stunning and ageless, Cher is set to grace the stage of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in September.

And we will bow down before her Good Graciousness as she performs hits from an extensive back catalogue that includes Believe (an anthem about getting over it and on with life), If I Could Turn Back Time, Dark Lady and Gypsies Tramps and Thieves.

It is incredible to think Cher has been making waves for six decades and has sold a formidable 100-million records.

Her Australian shows are bound to be spectacular – it is the first time in 13 years that she has ventured down under for a full tour schedule. And it will come soon after the cinema release of the Mamma Mia sequel (Here we go again) in which Cher appears as the grandmother!

Tickets are priced from C reserve $122.15 though to B reserve $203.60 and A reserve (do you wanna go there?) $305.45.

We’re talking LEGEND. We’re talking a NIGHT TO REMEMBER.

Disney on Ice – 100 years of magic

WHEN: Friday, June 29-Monday, July 2, 2018
WHERE: Brisbane Entertainment Centre

IT’S no wonder Brisbane Entertainment Centre has added an extra date to Disney on Ice – 100 years of magic.

Most of us have grown up with Disney’s stories that feature an array of endearing (and sometimes downright nasty) characters that we recognise in some shape or form (in the metaphorical sense) in our own life stories.

It is wonderful to be able to share the common ground of our memories with our kids and grandkids (and maybe even great grandkids) in an incredible jaw-dropping spectacular that will leave a lasting impression on young and old alike.

Our favourite Disney characters will perform amazing feats on ice to familiar soundtracks that have left an indelible mark on our lives.

Due to popular demand, Brisbane Entertainment Centre has added an extra show on Monday, July 2, 2018.

Characters include the enduring cartoon couple Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the loquacious Donald Duck and an entourage of Disney princesses (have a competition to see how many you can name).

And let’s not forget the modern favourites from Toy Story, Lion King and Finding Nemo.

When you’re not marvelling at the theatrical action on the ice and incredible costumes, lighting and sets, you’ll be singing along to 30 of your favourite Disney songs that include You’ve Got a Friend in Me and Hakuna Matata.

To get the most out of your Disney on Ice – 100 Years of Magic experience, arrive on time to catch the off-ice adventures of the gang from Zootopia.

Here’s a bit more trivia to share with anyone who’ll listen:
* Walt Disney was born in 1901 and died in 1966 (who would have thought it?)
* Mickey Mouse first appeared on screen in 1928. Wow.

PBR Last Cowboy Standing IV: it’s all about the bull

WHEN: Saturday, June16, 2018
TIME: 7.30pm
WHERE: Brisbane Entertainment Centre
COST: VIP on the dirt $175; Platinum $135; Gold $105; Bronze $65; Value $40

EXPECT an evening packed with heart-in-mouth moments as Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Australia delivers three action-packed hours of Australia’s most experienced and qualified bull riders giving their all in a sport that must be up there as one of the world’s most dangerous.

In addition to the bull-riding spectacular, expect pyrotechnics, lasers, a concert sound system and mega-screen for replays and to show the behind-the-scenes preparation in PBR Last Cowboy Standing IV.

The bull riders have eight precious seconds in which to prove their mettle on these amazing bovine athletes that weigh about 680 kilograms-plus and are inclined to “leap, plunge and spin” when they have a human athlete on their back.

PBR Australia was formed in 2006, and former PBR world champion Troy Dunn is its president.

On the PBR Australia Facebook page, it is noted that “today more than 1200 bull riders hold PBR membership and compete in more than 300 PBR sanctioned competitions worldwide for a prize pool that exceeds $13 million.”

According to the international website, PBR bulls are “treated with the utmost respect, if not more, than the humans who ride them.”

The organisation operates under a “no tolerance policy for any mistreatment of any animal associated with the PBR.”

Cirque Du Soleil’s Toruk: the first flight – James Cameron’s Avatar reimagined

WHEN: October, 2017
WHERE: Brisbane Entertainment Centre

It has been described as an “odyssey in sound and light and acrobatics” and an “immersive experience”.

One thing is for sure, Toruk: the first flight is not your usual fare from the artistic performance company that has turned the concept of circus on its head since forming in Canada in 1984.

Cirque Du Soleil’s latest production is unlike anything that has come before it.

It is the first time a Cirque Du Soleil show has been inspired by a movie – James Cameron’s 2009 epic Avatar – and the first time a narrator has guided the storyline of three N’avi teenagers who set off on a journey to save their planet Pandora. Their quest leads them to Toruk, the mighty red and orange predator that rules the Pandora sky.

Toruk: the first flight is set on Cameron’s fictional planet of Pandora 3000 years before the events that took place in the movie.

Since its debut in Canada in 2015, Toruk: the first flight has entranced and enthralled audiences across Planet Earth.

This incredible production is coming to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in October so get ready to be thrilled by spectacular sets, props, puppets, sound, lighting and performances from some of the world’s most talented and skilled acrobats.

(Cirque Du Soleil has always fashioned its shows towards families – however, in this production there is a note that loud noises and darkness may frighten some children).

Book accommodation nearby at Scarborough Beach Resort. Perfect for a family holiday to Queensland, it’s just 35 minutes drive from Brisbane airport, offering a selection of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom fully-self contained holiday apartments and onsite facilities including swimming lap pool, large heated spa and more. BOOK YOUR SCARBOROUGH BRISBANE ACCOMMODATION NOW

Jerry Seinfeld performs at Brisbane Entertainment Centre

WHEN: Wednesday, August 9, 2017
WHERE: Brisbane Entertainment Centre

The comedian whose sitcom “about nothing” is still being aired on mainstream TV almost 20 years after the final episode jets into the country for a national tour this August.

Jerry Seinfeld was already a star on the stand-up comedy circuit before he and friend Larry David created his eponymous TV show in 1989.

Seinfeld introduced catchphrases such as “Yada yada yada”, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that”, “Double-dipping”, “Re-gifting” and “No soup for you” to the world.

The maddeningly self-absorbed characters of George Costanza, Elaine Benes and Cosmo Kramer were unleashed onto the small screen, careening from one inane disaster to another without remorse or reflection.

In the show, Seinfeld played a fictionalised version of himself and was very much a party to the shenanigans that mostly took place on a set dressed as his Manhattan apartment.

The last episode of the show was recorded in 1998, and in 2013 it was voted the second greatest television series ever – after The Sopranos.

Seinfeld is returning to Australia for the first time in 18 years to perform his unique stand-up across the country in Seinfeld LIVE.

In an interview, he said his show would be similar to one he recently performed during a 12-month residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre.

Seinfeld LIVE would have to be a highlight on the Brisbane Entertainment Centre’s 2017 calendar.

If you managed to snaffle up tickets (they’re rare as hens’ teeth), why not give yourselves the five-star treatment by checking into Scarborough Beach Resort?

We’d love to entertain you!
