Osprey House Environment Centre

Osprey House Environmental Centre is a must see when you’re staying in the Moreton Bay region.

The centre is owned by Moreton Bay Regional Council and operated by trained and enthusiastic volunteers. It is nestled amongst mangroves on the Pine River, where it opens into a wide estuary and is rich with sea life and bird life, with bird hides along the boardwalks amongst the foreshore.

It features an osprey nest on the “Osprey pole”, with live streaming video of the ospreys fishing and nesting. The Ospreys can be seen at almost any time in daylight hours, soaring over the river, diving into the water to catch fish, or carrying fish back to the cross bars or nest. These majestic birds have become very rare or locally extinct in some parts of the world

The interpretive centre includes a life size dugong, bird and animal displays and the live streaming video from the osprey nest. You’ll find interesting educational displays, ‘touch’ tables and information provided in numerous and novel ways.

Osprey House Environment Centre is located on a picturesque site on the Pine River on Dohles Rocks Road, Griffin.
