Glass House Mountains

Have a day out in the mountains in the scenically abundant Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Glasshouse Mountains. Less than 50 kms north of Scarborough the scenery will unfold before your eyes as you drive into a series of 14 mountains, including Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Beerwah, Mt Coonowrin and Wild Horse Mountain.

There are a series of walking trails with scenic lookouts such as the Glass House Mountains Lookout Circuit, Trachyte Circuit and Wild Horse Mountains Track. Or for the adrenalin junkies there are rock climbing adventures at Mt Tibrogargan and Mt Ngungun.

Floatin’ Fun

Looking for a fun outdoors activity while staying with us at Scarborough Beach Resort? Floatin’ Fun are a hire company providing stand-up paddle boards (SUP), peddle boats and kayaks.

Generally open on weekends and during school holidays (closed Christmas and in some weather conditions). On the weekend they can take bookings for 6am but usually open at 9am.

Floatin’ Fun are located opposite us on Scarborough Beach. They also have another location operating at Redcliffe Jetty.

Pricing is affordable and simple, all crafts cost the same price, half an hour = $20 and one hour = $30.  They also offer a range of package deals perfect for a group, family or return visits.

Scarborough to Newport – Walk or Cycle!

Ride a bike or take a walk / run from Scarborough to Newport. This 8km route winds around the top of Redcliffe peninsula through Casuarina and Cotton Tree lined parks, along the waterfront, to the canals of Newport.

If you choose to cycle there is about 200m of on-road riding, in a dedicated path on a quiet street and around three roads to cross.

Along the path you’ll enjoy sections of shade provided by trees including Norfolk Pines. You will aslo take in views across the waters of Deception Bay to the southern end of Bribie Island, and overlooking Scarborough Boat Harbour, as well as distant glimpses of the Glass House Mountains.

When you return to Scarborough why not treat yourself to lunch in the colourful seaside cafe strip, or grab some take-away and enjoy it overlooking the beach. Then take a swim in our onsite pool to cool off before retreating to your apartment at Scarborough Beach Resort.

Bee Gees Way

In 1958 the Gibb brothers played their first gig at the Redcliffe speedway and it was on their kitchen table in Scarborough that they signed their first music contract.

In 2013, Barry Gibb and the Moreton Bay Regional Council unveiled ‘Bee Gees Way.’ Located between Redcliffe Parade and Sutton Street, Bee Gees Way is a 50 metre laneway showcasing more than 60 pictures and 13 album covers, the laneway is divided into five phases celebrating the career of the Bee Gees. A 1.7m bronze statue of the Gibbs brothers, as boys, with a backdrop of 37 song titles is one of the main features of Bee Gees Way.

You can also view Bee Gees memorabilia, including a recollection of their childhood on the peninsula that was penned by Barry Gibb, at the Redcliffe Museum … or take a stroll past their childhood home in Scarborough!

Fishing in Scarborough Queensland

Scarborough Point is known as one of the best fishing spots North of Brisbane. So, if you like to relax on holiday with a little fishing then you’ve come to the right place!

There are several places along the coast that are well known including the rocky reefs around Castlereagh Point, where rumour has it big bream, squire and grass sweetlip can be caught.

Redcliffe Peninsula foreshore is said to be good for whiting from the beaches, including Margate and Sutton. The rock outcrops also provide good opportunity for catching bream.
